FAQS

WHAT IS VIRTUAL COUNSELLING/TELETHERAPY?

Virutal counselling means therapy sessions are provided by phone or secure video instead of in-person. Most other aspects of counselling are the same as in-person, such as building a trusting relationship with a counsellor to work towards your goals.

WILL IN-PERSON THERAPY BE OFFERED AT A LATER DATE?

No, I only plan to provide virtual therapy for the foreseeable future.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF VIRTUAL COUNSELLING?

Virtual counselling is more convenient than traditional in-person counselling in many ways: no need to travel to appointments, no waiting in a waiting room, no risk of COVID-19 transmission, and meeting in a place that's comfortable for you. Virtual counselling removes location and travel barriers so you have more freedom to choose a counsellor who is a good fit for you. I provide virtual counselling to people who live in Ontario.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR VIRTUAL THERAPY?

In addition to being open to trying virtual therapy, there are a few things you'll need, but you may already have most of them: a secure and reliable internet/phone connection, a device with a camera and microphone that connects to the internet like a smartphone, tablet, or computer, and a confidential space for couselling sessions.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE COUNSELLING PROCESS AND APPROACH?

I provide a free 15 minute consultation by phone/secure video so we can discuss your goals and expectations for counselling and see whether counselling with me is a good fit for you.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

Each 50 minute session costs $150. I accept e-transfer and credit card payments.

DOES MY INSURANCE/HEALTH BENEFIT PLAN COVER COUNSELLING?

Please confirm your insurer/provider covers Registered Psychotherapists before starting therapy. It is also helpful to ask how much is covered (i.e.: $500/year) and the reimbursement rate for sessions (i.e.: 80%).
